Exit Next Right

When you travel back to Dalaam to use the Carrot Key, many characters will say new things.

In MOTHER 2, this philosopher-type guy says what basically amounts to, “What’s the big difference between ‘sonzai’ (existing) and ‘zonzai’ (rude / careless / slipshod)? …..Nothing?”

In EarthBound, this word play is changed to say, “What’s the difference between ‘existing’ and ‘exiting’ …..Nothing?”

Personally, I like the EarthBound one better. I’m not sure why, it just seems like something some armchair philosophers could really dig in to.

Shadows of War

When talking with Poo’s master again, in EarthBound, he says, “Your future battle will be considerably more dangerous than you expect. Don’t be careless…”

In MOTHER 2, what he says is a little more “wise old master”-like, something along the lines of, “Ominous shadows grow ever darker over your upcoming battles. Always remain vigilant.”
