I randomly stumbled upon a re-creation of Tazmily in Minecraft, check it out here:

It was on a pretty old message board post here, I don’t know if anything more came of it, but I salute shawnachu just the same!

I don’t really follow Minecraft stuff as much as I should, are there any other EarthBound-y locations and stuff that fans have made? I get submissions about people making sprites from the games regularly, but what about actual places?

Looking for EarthBound Desktops

I’ve been looking around for the past year or so for EarthBound or Mother related backgrounds and have only come across 5 or 6 at the most, some of which aren’t the greatest but still it’s Earthbound. The attached file is what I currently use now but I just wish there were more. Do you know of any place where I could look, or anywhere that people would be interested in making some for the community. I understand it’s not that big of an issue, just something that would be nice around to have around.

I’ve actually wondered this for a while too. I know there’s a Desktop section on Starmen.Net that’s woefully neglected, but are there any other EarthBound/MOTHER desktop depositories out there? If you know of any, share them here!

EarthBound Was Once $5.99

New copies of EarthBound are now worth thousands of dollars apparently, but did you know the game used to be $5.99 new at Best Buy? It sounds like in the late 90s many stores were trying to unload the game for super-cheap prices. Little did anyone know…

Anyway, in some recent comments, EarthBound Central reader west_haven posted this:

I work at Best Buy and I’ve been meaning to look in our inventory program and see if I can find our listing for Pokemon Red, so I bet it’s in there somewhere.

Found it and printed out sale tags for it!! The price listed is $5.99, a price we all wish we could get it for now. It’s listed as SN-Earthbound, where SN must stand for SNES. The SKU number is 2375272, which sadly doesn’t mean much since if you search for that on Bestbuy.com, it doesn’t yield a result. I asked if there might be some secret stash tucked away in a warehouse somewhere, but it sounds like that’s not likely at all Oh well, someday someone’s going to find a stash of new EarthBounds and then buy a solid gold car.

Having the main characters is cool, but somehow those rows of Mr. Saturn makes it even better. I think it’d be nice to play EarthBound on a really cold day while wrapped in this for warmth

EarthBound Zero Remake: Swamp

Good ol’ H.S has done it again with some awesome map hacking for the EarthBound Zero remake hack. This time H.S tackled the swamp part of the world, which you can see here:

If you’ve never played the original game or if you don’t remember it clearly, the original swamp area is here for reference:

This is one of those most grueling parts of the game, and it looks like it’ll still be pretty tough in the remake too. What’s even more impressive is that completely new map elements had to be hacked in for this – although the Deep Darkness stuff is swampy, it doesn’t have all the stuff the EarthBound Zero swamp had. So good job there, H.S!

It’s still going to be a long, long time until this remake ever nears completion, but I love seeing it slowly coming together like this

I noticed a copy of EarthBound that hit eBay just a few hours ago and couldn’t help but post about it:

Look at that poor EarthBound cart Adopt it from eBay here and give it a more loving home.

The Ultimate EarthBound Wall

A few weeks ago a rare EarthBound poster hit eBay and it sold for a whopping $1225. It was bought by a fellow named CB, who even posted in the comments on this site shortly after. It sounded like the poster was going to be a part of a big EarthBound display on CB’s wall – and now we have a shot of it! Behold!

The rarity and price of this collection brings onions to my eyes~

The EarthBound Journal

Armand K. has completed a really cool project – making a neat little journal from the perspective of Ness, Paula, Jeff, and Poo as they go on their adventures. Specifically, it’s kind of like a scrapbook / journal mostly from Paula and Jeff’s points of view, but with some Ness and Poo stuff too.

Custom MOTHER Bag

A few weeks ago LucasTizma was telling me about some vector graphics he was working on for some sort of MOTHER-related project. I just recently found out what it was:

For Christmas, I had some custom MOTHER items hand crafted for me. I got a sweet messenger bag, a MacBook Air sleeve, and an iPad sleeve. I think it turned out really well! The guy did a great job with the embroidery. Anyway, just wanted to share these awesomely unique items with the community. I’m probably the only person in the world with a bag emblazoned with the MOTHER logo!

So it’s like, what happens when the craziest MOTHER/EarthBound collector out there runs out of stuff to collect? He makes his own stuff! That’s that Do-It-Yourself Devotion in action again all right I don’t even own an iPad or a MacBook and kinda want these…
