The Mr. Saturn art books tend to go for a crazy amount, this one’s actually up for auction so it’s possible you can get a good deal on one for once It’s a Japanese auction, so you might have to use a deputy service like Celga unless you have superpowers.

But it’s still sad to see Mr. Saturn so horribly treated:

Neat EarthBound/MOTHER series charms and prints by OMOCAT

I like seeing fan-made goodies, yet I’ve been slacking off showcasing a lot of Etsy shops and such. I’m going to try to fix that from now on, so check out these really nice-looking keychain charms and art prints. If you’re interested, check out more of her art here!

Average Prices:

• EarthBound cart: $138 (down from $149 now that the holidays are over)
• EarthBound guide: $77 (previous average was $77 as well)
• EarthBound complete set: $493 (up from $398)

That complete set average doesn’t include the new copy that sold for a zillion dollars last week. That one wound up selling for a lot less than the final bid (and was sold off of eBay as well), but factoring in the price there, the average for a complete set is bumped up to $629.

While computing the info above, I also took some notes about which ones sold for more and sold for less. So if you’re hoping to buy a copy of EarthBound for as little as possible, follow the tips here as well as these new tips for auctions (as opposed to buy-it-nows):

Helpful Tips!

• If the title has the word “rare” in it, forget about it – the final price will almost ALWAYS be higher than the average
• Similarly, words like “mint” will usually result in a final price higher than the average
• If the title uses the stock title of something like “EarthBound (1995, Super NES)”, then the final price is slightly more likely to be below average
• If the thumbnail image used is the stock image, then the final price is slightly more likely to be below average
• If words like “used” or “only” or “just” (as in “cart only” or “just cart”) are used, the final price is more likely to be below average

Of course, if you’re selling your copy, then use those tips to your advantage too

Pay attention to this stuff and the tips on buyearthound.com to get the best deal possible. You can save a LOT of money if you know what you’re doing – some cart copies of EarthBound went for $100, and a complete set even went for $273. So there are deals (relatively speaking…) to be had if you’re attentive!

Last week I posted some neat MOTHER 2-related swag on eBay, and this week I’m listing something even more epic: a copy of MOTHER 1+2 signed by none other than MOTHER/EarthBound series creator Shigesato Itoi himself!

I’m also including a bunch of other really rare items from the official MOTHER 1+2 event held in 2003, check it all out here!

Here’s Itoi signing boxes prior to the event – as far as I know this is the only one that’s ever been made available outside of Japan.

That reminds me that someday I really need to sit down and subtitle the whole talk show portion of the event. Most of the cool info is in the video above, though.

I think this is the most a copy of EarthBound has ever gone for – just a few years ago we were amazed when a new copy sold for $1000, but now that almost seems… cheap. I checked, and $4700 means that you could either buy EarthBound or a retirement home:

There’s a good side to this, though – now that word about this has gotten out, you can expect many people hoarding new copies of EarthBound to put them up for auction. In fact, here’s an unused copy for sale already:

I always feel kind of bad for the initial buyer when this sort of thing happens – something sells for real high, then a bunch of others show up immediately afterward. The good thing is that if you’re looking for a new copy of EarthBound but don’t want to spend $4700, this is probably the perfect chance. Use the tips and info here to try to get the best deal too!

Japanese Signboard, signed by Shigesato Itoi

pk_stan is selling this Japanese “shikishi” signboard, signed by Itoi in 1985. It’s addressed to someone named Tomoyuki, or perhaps it’s the name of the thing in the picture, I’m not really sure.

An item I’m selling is this unused, like-new poster (I’d call it a flier or handbill, but I’m pretty sure they were meant to be displayed in stores) promoting a Nintendo-sanctioned, Famitsu-organized tournament for Shigesato Itoi’s No. 1 Bass Fishing (the N64 one).

I’ve had this up for a while now but I decided I’ll just auction it off to whoever wants it, so if you’re in the mood for a nice MOTHER series poster, here you go! I think I picked this up in 2005 when I went on a crazy Japanese auction buying binge. It’s been on my wall ever since, but now that I’ve seen it every day for the past seven years, I think I’m ready to pass it on

While I’m at it, here are some other things of mine I’ve had up for a little while now:

And although not 100% EarthBound-related, Nintendo fans might get a kick out of this Nintendo game from 1970 I’m selling:

Complete Copy of EarthBound, VGA Qualified 85+, No Reserve

First is this new copy of EarthBound that’s been VGA graded. As of the time of this posting, there are two days left on this auction, with the price currently at $2,325 and 39 bids. In other terms, we’ve entered the realm were EarthBound is now worth as much as this:

Apparently the VGA uses a microscope to tell if a game’s been played or not, and this particular game’s never been played. So if you want a brand-new copy, keep your eye on it!

Update: with 7 hours left, this is now at $4400

Complete, Barely-Used Copy of EarthBound

If that new copy is too much for you, then there’s always this complete copy of EarthBound, selling for only $1189. So you’ll only need to sell a few gallons of your blood

You might think these are just isolated cases, but in fact an unused copy of EarthBound sold a few days ago for $950.

If super-duper pristine copies aren’t important to you, complete copies do sell for a LOT less than these and I’d recommend them instead. As always, check out this page for info on how to get EarthBound as cheaply as possible.

I’ve never seen this available on eBay before, so this might be a first. It’s very nice quality, the only thing is that it’s very weak along the crease in the middle where it was originally folded. It should be fine if you frame it or laminate it, but I was too lazy to do either, which is why I never really used it as a display myself

I still have a few other neat things I plan to list someday, so I’ll post about them too as time goes on.

A few days ago I was digging through a closet and came across an extra copy of the EarthBound Anthology that I don’t need, so I decided to toss it up on eBay. You can already see the entire Anthology here, but if anyone out there wants the actual print copy (plus 2 discs with stuff unknown to me) then see here.
