When Jeffman and I worked on the MOTHER 3 translation, we realized there was a lot of 8×8 font stuff going on in the game, so we had to make a modified version of the EarthBound font for those instances. Well, Mirz has taken that font and made it into a real font file you can use on your computer! Hey there. I have been working on a version of the Mother3 font which is used on the pick-a-nam...Read More »

Emily sent this in the other day: Hi Tomato. I made a Mr. Saturn ladder figurine with five individual Saturns that slide on and off the stand. I really like how it came out, and I thought that your readers might like it too! If anyone is interested, I’m also selling it on Etsy. (Link to page) Pic #2 Pic #3 That’s a pretty interesting idea. If you’re interested, definitely cont...Read More »

Super EarthBound fan Chewy recently e-mailed me about her translating the MOTHER 2 novel during Golden Week in Japan. Here’s what she says: As some of you know, this week is Golden Week in Japan. The entire country puts down its tools and enters what is basically a week-long national holiday. What this means is that I can’t fly home to America for anything less than $2,500, and that any t...Read More »

A while back I posted a few things about a game in Japan that translated loosely to “Kappa Road” (see see here and ). It was made by Brownie Brown and had a few quick cameos of MOTHER 3 stuff in it: In just those screenshots alone, we can see a Pigmask mask, Ocho the octopus, and a merman oxygen robot. What other MOTHER 3 stuff did they hide in the game, we all wondered. Now we can f...Read More »

Floisonkeya posted these scans over on the Starmen.Net forums recently. Here’s what she said: Well, a couple of days ago, the Official Nintendo Magazine of Australia and New Zealand, May 2010 was mailed to my brother and I, as so for every month. I was a little busy during the week, so I didn’t get around to reading it until today. For the first time, in the 2 ½ years I’ve been collecti...Read More »

I’ve posted a few EarthBound tattoos in the past, but I think this one takes the cake! This was sent in by Tim: Can’t remember if I ever submitted my EB inspired tattoo based on the Kraken fight. I wanted to get it in a somewhat Japanese style since of course the game did originate in Japan. I’ve had it for a little over a year now and I’ve been racking my brain trying to c...Read More »

A good while back I posted some pics of what EarthBound carts look like on the inside. Now here’s what MOTHER 2 carts look like! Hard to believe that something so bland and circuit-y secretly contains such awesome stuff inside! ...Read More »

What an odd title to type. I came across a texture hack for Brawl recently that turns Ness’ character model into one that looks like Poo: Looks pretty good! You can check out the model here! ...Read More »

On April 20, 2006, MOTHER 3 was released in Japan. It’s hard to believe it’s already been four years since then, or that the English translation patch has been out for a year and a half now I already sort of covered memory lane stuff the past few years, on here and on the M3 translation blog, so I won’t rehash all that. Instead, I’ll point out these two old forum threads ...Read More »
