Remember that History of EarthBound documentary thing from a few weeks ago? If you do, then you probably remember that Joey D., the guy who made it, was also planning to post a review of the game, which he recently did.
Like with the previous videos, he does his research, which is always a plus
Hello Mato,
First off, thank you so much for posting my EarthBound retrospective a couple of weeks ago. I never expected such a great response!
I’m just dropping a line to let you know that I’ve finally finished the companion video to that previous one – a review of EarthBound itself. If you’re interested, the links are below. (Still in 3 parts, but don’t worry, it runs about 10 minutes shorter!)
Pretty cool look at things. I especially liked the Japanese pronunciations

This is pretty cool, I learned some new things from it.
I love his pronounciation of Gyiyg. xD

As the last one, it is exceptional. Roo, I think you missed the time saver for battles in M3; you must be running ir order to accomplish this.
(Also I think it’s so you can still ambush an enemy and collect its back-sprite, even if you are too strong)

The Japanese pronunciations where epic. Nice work Roo on the review!
(hey that rhymes!… sorta)

fael – Yes, but you don’t gain any experience from doing that, which is why the insta-wins in EB were better.

Fael – yes, what Poe said. Though I should have make that more clear about that when I was spouting words out of my noise hole.
That and the bit about Paula being the 4th member when I meant she was the only one I hadn’t mentioned yet… can I get a do-over?
“new old games”
thats about as much as an oxymoron as new age retro hippie.
After viewing the second part I felt so guilty. When I was on my quest for the sword, it took 45 minutes to get it. Then the VERY next Starman Super I fought dropped another Sword of kings!

I swear, I spent so long trying to get that sword as a kid that I thought my game was broken.
Then my mind started coming up with weird rationalizations, like: Maybe I can only get it if I enter battle against Starman Supers without any other enemies present.
That wasn’t a fun experiment to try.

“I especially liked the Japanese pronunciations”
Same here. The last name was pure gold for the ears.
