Tips for Buying EarthBound

November 22nd, 2009 | Weekly Round-Up

Kind of an interesting week this week, lots of stuff from the funfest over at Starmen.Net has been showing up. It’s crazy how creative EarthBound fans can be!

Anyway, here’s a look at what EarthBound-related stuff has happened this week around the tubes.

Community News

I have three feet, so I can’t possibly keep up with every single thing that happens in the EarthBound community, so if you’ve done something cool or if you know of something cool that belongs here, let me know!

Cool Auctions & Merchandise

Earlier this week there were some really good deals on eBay, like EarthBound + the player’s guide for only $84. I try to keep Twitter subscribers informed of really good deals like that before they’re gone, but then someone snatches them up before I even get a chance to. It’s crazy.

Anyway, here’s some cool stuff fans, collectors, and crazy people might want to check out. You can also see all the EarthBound / MOTHER stuff on eBay all gathered in one handy place here!

And here’s some cool stuff on Yahoo! Auctions Japan:

And stuff on Amazon:

  • EarthBound strategy guides are back up to $85 this week after the last week or two when I saw one for much, much cheaper. Crazy that these guides go for more than the game does or go for more than even a new game nowadays!

What’s Up With Itoi

  • For the absolute longest time, Itoi has been doing a series on his site called Twilight (no relation to the vampire stuff whatsoever), where he and Minami Shinbo visit places and discuss what life is like in the “twilight years” of life. This past week they visited Nikko, a really nice place that you should check out if you ever visit Japan. Anyway, this was the final installment of the series and even Itoi acknowledged the fact that it seemed like it would never end. But he seemed to enjoy it and I guess it was popular with readers, so that’s cool.

Also, Minami Shinbo was the character designer for MOTHER 1, and I’m pretty sure he was involved in EarthBound in some way too. I haven’t checked every installment of the series but I haven’t found any game-related talk so far. I don’t really expect any, though :P

Final Thought

It’s too bad they didn’t have a scratch-n-sniff card of Master Barf.

Imagine if they had made a scratch-n-sniff card of Master Barf… It’d be AWESOME! :D
