A few months ago, Chippychan caught this picture of a cosplayer at Anime Central.

You generally wouldn’t expect to see a whole lot of EarthBound characters at something like this, at least not a Starman
But I guess even Starmen love anime when they’re not busy taking over towns or chilling beneath Stonehenge.

This reminds me of a “Heavy Metal” poster I saw and some liquid metal/robot woman some time ago.

i am sad i didn’t see the starman at ACEN ;-;
Thats obviously a real starman and not a cosplayer.
no human could move around in that suit… or eat, urinate etc… lol. I wish I had one.
Chances are that person is familiar with starmen.net, if not a full member…who is it? Anyone care to wager some guesses?

there are always a million mother series cosplayers at anime conventions
this, this is why I hate missing ACEN, oh well, I will be a pigmask colonel next JAFAX so there is going to be some epicness there, in speaking of which, gotta get that cape done!
Starmen don’t have hands!
In all seriousness, is there a zipper on the back or is that thing poured on.
@zedrein
Chances are good, but not for certain.
I was part of a Ness/Paula cosplay couple at A-Kon a couple years back for the Guiness World Record breaker of most people dressed as video game characters in one room (~700). Someone was from starmen.net I suppose, and he assumed the same thing. Was rather silly:
Person: Hey! Awesome! Ness and Paula!
Me: Hey! Awesome! A guy!
Person: *laughs* It’s so great to see fellow starmen.netters here.
Me: Er… we aren’t ‘starmen.netters’
Person: Huh? Then why are you dressed as Ness?
A square is always a rectangle, but a rectangle is not always a square. ^_^;;
Actually, I usually identify more video game cosplayers at anime cons than actual anime cosplayers. At least at Otakon…
Actually, this year’s is in two days. Any EB Centralers going?
I’m going! Keep your eyes peeled for a Giygas cosplayer on Friday. ;D

Why, I was at ACen this year, and indeed heard about the Starman cosplayer from a Ness.
Apparently I’d just missed the Starman by minutes!
Strange – usually you’re not looking to encounter starmen ^^;
Unfortunately, I’m not going to Otakon. I am, however, going to San Diego Comic Con, and intend to show up on Friday with a tuxedo, tophat, and flash camera.
In Thatguywithglasses.com site, i discovered theres a walkthrough of Earthbound video! I hope you make an article about that. I like that people care about Earthbound nowadays… i hope more fans come here thanks to the walkthrough.
@Aerostella: I will! You wouldn’t happen to be this one I met last year, would you?

@Q: I’m going to both! I’m leaving Otakon Sunday afternoon and am flying out to California on Tuesday morning. I’ll be sure to keep my eye out for you on Friday ^.^
I’m actually cosplaying as well… but not as an EarthBound character. Sorry guys
At first, I thought it was the robot girls at Mother1, oh well, very nice starmen though ^^

I’m going to Otakon. I live like… 5 miles away.
I don’t think I’d have the courage to wear that, despite how epic it is.
Zai: No, because a. It’s my first year at Otakon and b. I’m a girl. XD

I…
And…
But…
Nevermind.
At anime cons, you should expect to see at least one cosplayer dressed as an Earthound character. When I was at Anime Expo 2009 a few weeks, I saw a Ness cosplayer, complete with a bat.
I SAW HIM. Right when I arrived, I saw him in the distance and yelled “STARMAAAN~!”
He turned and waved, and it was then that I realized my camera was still packed in my suitcase. >_< So I didn’t go up to him to talk and ask if he was a Starmen.netter. I was indeed a sad panda…
