At E3, a MMO game called Kung Fu Hustle (apparently not connected to the movie?) was shown off. What’s interesting is that the developer supposedly said that EarthBound had some influence on the game’s creation.
What this means exactly is anyone’s guess. But if you’re interested, you can read more here.

I don’t see it either. Are they trying to say that it’s similar to EarthBound because of its “quirky and colorful” NPCs? That’s a very vague comparison.

Sounds to me like it’s more the character dialog that’s supposed to be EB-influenced.
Also, how can that NOT be connected to the movie? Perhaps it’s a divergent storyline that doesn’t relate to the movie’s, but I definitely was reminded of the movie as I looked through the screens.
