What brought this on was that I brought up a perfectly good discussion and it was locked and the person said that it was adequately discussed on another discussion board not related in any way to Starmen.net. So they basically said I was a dumbass and please go to another site. You need only look at my last posts in the past month (about 2 posts) to see the offending data. Thank you for listening to my story.

Well, EB0 was definitely intended to be a clone, and EB was like a little bit of a step up from EB0, so the comparison makes some sense. I think the action menu (when you press B while walking around) is very similar and the battles are definitely similar.

Very good article. I wonder why people have so often called it a Dragon Quest clone, though. From what I remember, Dragon Warrior (what I knew it as back then) had random encounters, static battle backgrounds, a medieval setting, and no rolling counters. The only thing I can think of that they share are the same things that most RPGs share: HP, PP (SP), turn-based battles, and some of the stats.

That was a nice read. Isn't it funny how the reviews that are benevolent towards EarthBound are also usually the ones that are written better? That's just what I've noticed anyway.

Love the Sword of Kings reference at the end. Proving at least that SOMEONE has played past Onett. :D
