One common thing in Japan is that people often create their own comics based on stuff they’re fans of. You can see a ton of such MOTHER series doujinshi here. Anyway, what sets this apart from everywhere else is that these fans sell their works, usually at big comic conventions.
I bring this up because another common thing nowadays is for Japanese fans to make their own remixes of songs and sell them on CDs at these same events. Two I just found out about today are called MOTHER +Love and MOTHER +Love 2. What’s cool is that the creator has demo MP3s of all the tracks online

Note that those MP3s are just quick bits of each song all put together. The albums contain the full-length songs, though I’m not sure they’re available for purchase anymore. So if you happen to see one, snatch it up if you can! Even these sample compilations sound really cool though

Hm, I’m honestly surprised the creators don’t have the full albums online for free download. I guess that’s the difference between American and Japanese Mother fans.

Hey, I bought this off of ebay awhile back. Good stuff. One CD is called Earthside, the other is Moonside. It’s a neat compilation album by a bunch of different artists…mostly techno, some slower, and more mellow, others downtempo, others hyper rave stuff. Very fun.

Oh man, I’d love more Mother remixes. :3
And hopefully, some point this week, I’ll be able to get them if I find them at last~!
(This may also mean I can snatch up the Mother 2 novel like I’ve wanted to do so long 
assuming of course, I still can)

Wow. I found a [[totally legal download]] with what I assumed to be almost every MOTHER album every recorded, but it didn’t have these. Do want.

If people are interested, I could share. It’ll take me awhile to share (I’m away from home where the CD is and I don’t have it on my new laptop) but I’ll see what I can do. From what I understand, the CD itself wasn’t super expensive, but I paid about $65 for it, so that’s a few times over than what they sold it for, and it’s out of print anyways. =P The one I have is “Mother +Love 2″

I was finally able to track down MOTHER +LOVE 1 online, and it’s got some nice arrangements. It’s a shame that the actual album is so hard to find, but the music is what really matters, eh?

Wow, is that current? I had no idea they were still selling albums; some of us ought to jump on that while we have the chance.
@Om: I found a rip of it at this link that’s pretty good. Of course, I wouldn’t suggest downloading it if it’s now legally available; however, somehow I don’t think I need to worry about that with this community.

I somehow found this one called Otonoishi. It’s Earthbound songs all hyper style. I think this is the same kind of thing you’re talking about.
